Medical Update from the Clinic
Duk Lost Boys Clinic staff recently treated a two and a half-year-old boy with second-degree burns covering his entire body. Scalding water accidentally spilled on him while his mother cooked a meal. Even in the best equipped hospitals, medical professionals would consider these injuries potentially fatal. Fortunately, Clinic staff, aided by equipment and supplies given through contributions by supporters such as you, were able to repair a majority of the injured skin. The boy is now recovering from the burns and is expected to return to full health shortly.
Stories such as that are reported every day to our US headquarters by our doctors on the ground in Sudan. The continuing support we receive allows us to offer lifesaving services to the people of Duk County, South Sudan. Over the past two years, JDSF has provided medical services to tens of thousands of people, and even more success lies on the horizon as we continue to grow and expand one of the few modern health facilities in the region.
